I have suffered from back and neck pain since I was a teenager. My older sister, who is very knowledgeable about chiropractic, suggested I see a chiropractor and I thought I would try it. I experienced pain relief, but it was not until I moved to Japan that I truly saw for myself that chiropractic care can help with so much more than back and neck pain.
Dr. Shimizu decided to become a chiropractor after his wife lost feeling in her limbs and a chiropractor was the only person who could help her. She had seen several doctors who were unable to help her. Chiropractic is not very common in Japan, but Dr. Shimizu sought out a D.C. as a last resort for his wife who had suffered from this issue for several years. She had feeling in her limbs after the first adjustment. Dr. Shimizu went on to study chiropractic at the University of Melbourne in Australia, moved back to Japan, and is now a D.C. part of a movement trying to bring chiropractic to Japan.
When I began seeing Dr. Shimizu, I noticed that more than just my back and neck pain were being relieved. I struggle with fatigue, but after I was adjusted I would feel like I had more energy. I also noticed that I was experiencing relief from headaches and some of my GI issues.
My experience with Dr. Shimizu is part of the reason as to why I am pursuing a career in chiropractic. I would love to help people learn what chiropractic can do for them, because so many are unaware of the amazing benefits.
