Back Pain

Low Back Pain

  • Chronic Low Back Pain

I tried chiropractic after my wife kept nagging me to go.I had chronic lower back pain which required pain shots but did not help. Since I started care my pain has almost gone, and now I can do so much more than before. I would recommend Chiropractic care anyone who has pain that seems to never end.

  • Debilitating Lower Back Pain

I was experiencing very debilitaing pains in my lower back (that I now know is my "sacrum" thanks to Dr. Peltier), and this was severely hampering my quality of life. I was unable to run or enjoy any other sort of physical activity, and eventually it became so painful that I could barely walk, let alone go up and down stairs. I went to see Dr. Peltier on the recommendation of a couple of my family members. I had seen other chirpractors in the past, but could quickly tell that Dr. Peltier was the "real deal." In my experience, not only was Dr. Peltier more knowledgable than "the other guys," it was very apparant that he genuinely had an interest in my well being. After a few mobility tests and an examination, he was able to determine what the issue was, and he actually explained in detail what was going on with my spine and why I was experiencing those pains. The night after my first visit, he personally called me to check in and see how I was feeling after my first session. I have NEVER had a doctor do that, and it meant a lot and made me feel like he truly cared for my health and that I wasn't just another dollar sign to him. When we began the "correction" process, he explained each step of the process along the way, as far as what he was exactly doing to me and why he was doing it. He also provided literature for some of the tools that he used on me when I expressed curiosity. After a couple week of corrections, I can gladly say that I am no longer in any pain, and I am back to running and doing other things I was unable to do prior to seeing him. My quality of life has grown exponentially better after just a few sessions with him. I look forward to continuing my sessions with Dr. Peltier to help maintain the progress we have made on my spine. I am thankful to have a doctor like him in my community, and I cannot recommend him enough. I would also like to acknowledge the rest of his staff. They are very friendly and just as knowledgeable and eager to help. I have felt very welcome there ever since my first visit, and to me that's the real difference between Dr. Peltier's staff and "those other guys."

  • Family Choosing Chiropractic

My family and I have been going to Healthline Chiropractic and Dr. Blaskay for over 15 years. In that time, Doc Sue has helped us with: low back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, wrist pain, anxiety and tension. She even popped multiple ribs back into place after I had an accident. I was terrified to go to the chiropractor due to an painful encounter with a different chiropractor. My husband convinced me to go. I was in excruciating pain in my lower back and couldn't stand unright. Dr. Blaskay listened, examined me, took x-rays, and I was able to walk out of her office pain free.

My husband, Tom, went to her all the while he battled cancer. Cancer is not kind to anyone, but it was especially painful and cruel to Tom. Because of Dr. Blaskay, Tom was able to work, as a computer programmer, all throughout his illness due to the relief he received. Tom's quality of life and his mental well being was greatly improved by the loving care he received from Dr. Blaskay.

Both of my children have received chiropractic care from Dr. Blaskay throughout their lives. Her gentleness and good humor made it so easy for the children to “go to the doctor.” There were no needles to fear! They always felt safe and comfortable, and actually looked forward to going to see Doc Sue because they knew they would feel better. My children are now adults and still go to Dr. Blaskay. My daughter lives out of the area and will drive 2 1/2 hours just to get adjusted by Doc Sue.

Dr. Blaskay's staff is the best too. Everyone is friendly and do their best to make you feel comfortable and welcome. You are treated as a human being not just a number on an insurance form. Healthline Chiropractic has that small town feeling in a suburban setting.

Whenever we don’t feel well, no matter the cause, we always go and get adjusted by Dr. Blaskay at Healthline Chiropractic.

  • Low Back Pain

I started seeing Dr. Besecker just a few months ago and before visiting him I'd been experiencing lower back pain for about 16 years.  It started out with me going to my family doctor while in middle school and him dismissing the pain as nothing more than a back muscle strain since I was young, active, and therefore assumed to be healthy.  Ibuprofen and the muscle relaxer Flexeril were prescribed.  My parents and I had no reason to think my family doctor was wrong with his diagnosis and when the pain got better I was relieved.  Unfortunately for me this was the beginning of a war on back pain that I was not equipped properly to fight as the pain relief was merely temporary.  Through the years the pain would always come back when I ran out of prescription-strength Ibuprofen and Flexeril.  My doctor had me start physical therapy and after a few months of going two to three times a week with zero improvement in my pain, I gave up.

I was then prescribed stronger pain medication.  This had no effect.  I was sent to a specialist in sports medicine who ordered x-rays and diagnosed me with spondylitis, a form of arthritis directly affecting the spine.  I was thrilled to finally have an answer for what was causing the pain, but without a solution on how to cure it or stop the pain i was severely disheartened.  The specialist prescribed Vicodin for me and just like all the other medications it didn't diminish the pain at all.  The specialist then tried oxycodone, OxyContin, and just about every other severe pain killer available, but they didn't have any lasting positive effect either.  Once again I was sent to physical therapy with the positive thinking that maybe I just needed to give it another try.  Nope.  It didn't help at all and just resulted in me wasting a lot of time and money.

At that point in my journey I was about 25 years old and had nearly given up hope.  My pain level was so bad that I was literally having trouble getting out of bed, had to roll out onto my floor and had to have my mother help me get dressed because my back hurt too much to bend over to pick up my clothes, let alone put on my pants.  I found out through a friend about a clinical research study that was being done on lower back pain so I inquired about it and actually qualified to be a participant.  After going through a double-blind trial I was given actual pain medication that was a new opioid to help with my pain.  While it did help, I felt uneasy taking an opioid because I knew there was a risk of addiction and also knew the medication hadn't been approved as safe by the FDA yet.  All and all though, the medication only temporarily masked the pain and gave me some undesirable side effects like headaches and nausea.

So I went back to the doctor who had replaced my childhood family physician to express my unhappiness and lack of success with my treatments to this point.  He referred me to a pain management specialist who was very intelligent and thoughtful, but his treatments were fairly invasive.  I consented to having very long thin needles put into my spine to have steroids injected in an attempt to reduce the inflammation in my low back and help with my pain.  I had this done twice.  When this didn't work the specialist suggested another procedure where basically those long needles would be inserted into my back again, but this time they would be heated up so that the surrounding inflamed tissue would be cauterized and burned away.  After having this third procedure done I concluded that this was the worst medical decision I'd ever made.  I was in so much pain that I couldn't even sleep in my own bed because laying down literally made me cry and scream in pain.  I spent almost a month sleeping on my couch, sitting up, while waiting for the pain specialist to tell me the next step.  That's when I was referred to Dr. Besecker.

I was skeptical going in.  Being that I was a medical student I had pretty much been told by everyone that chiropractors weren't "real doctors" and that they just cracked backs and caused more harm than good.  At this point though everything else had failed and so I was trying to be open minded because clearly the other doctors weren’t able to help me so I had nothing left to lose.  On the first appointment Dr. Besecker examined me and my range of movement.  When he asked me if I had ever had x-rays done while standing up and bending forward and backward I knew that he was on to something.  He took some x-rays and sent me to the local hospital to have additional images taken there.  When he got the results back he confirmed what had been missed for my 28 years on this earth.  I had a condition called Spondylolisthesis, caused by a defect in my L5 vertebra called Spina Bifida Occulta.  This was allowing my vertebra to slip back and forth when I moved.  There was nothing in my medical records that mention this, but all the signs were there.  Dr. Besecker was the first medical professional to actually put EVERYTHING together.  Then we began working on some precise exercises and techniques to target my affected spinal areas and reduce the pain.  He also used this "jackhammer" tool on my spine and another tool to break up some of the scar tissue.  I was pessimistic at first, but I couldn't believe the world of difference it made in just a couple weeks.  He was also able to tell I had a weak ankle issue (without me mentioning it even once) and helped me restore an immense amount of strength and stability to my ankles by breaking up the scar tissue that I didn't know I had!  It's been a few months since my first visit to Dr. B's office and I still can't believe my progress.  I wouldn't say that I'm completely pain-free, but I no longer have to take pain medication on a daily basis.  I can actually walk around without feeling a horrible pulling feeling in my lower back and bending over doesn't hurt anymore.  This completely blows my mind that the least invasive practices of a chiropractor have done more for me than all of the other scary procedures and harsh medications I've taken before combined.  I wish more physicians knew how amazing chiropractors can be and didn't send their patients off to see expensive specialists with brutal and wastful procedures like mine did.  If I had known about Dr. Besecker earlier and in general trusted chiropractors as a whole I could have had an entirely different outlook on life as a teenager and young adult.  I know every person and medical condition is different, but I can't stress enough how much I'd recommend visiting a chiropractor before resorting to more invasive specialists if you are experiencing joint pain or muscle weakness.

  • Low Back Pain

I first came to see Dr. Blaskay about 2 years ago for my low back pain. She helped tremendously with my flexibility and range of motion. Recently I have been having cervical pain. She offers cervical traction which has helped with my headaches and stiff neck. She also uses heat therapy to relax my muscles.

  • Low Back Pain

I was referred to chiropractic care through the Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare system when I reported low back pain during my annual physical.  I had my first adjustment when I was almost 35 years old, and although I had been working as a massage therapist and yoga teacher following the military, I did not know anything about chiropractic.  Dr. Aryn Gabai of Pennington Family Chiropractic and his staff educated me on how chiropractic works with the innate healing potential of the body, and after assessments and initial adjustments, he reviewed my x-ray with me.  As a military veteran, he also charged me a greatly reduced rate.  Following more adjustments, I noticed less pain, an increased range of motion and the ability to more with more ease, as well as a reduction in anxiety.  Dr. Gabai also assisted me with entering the chiropractic doctorate program at Life University.

  • Low Back Pain at 73 Years Old

I'm a 73  year old male and I've had lower back pain since I was 28 years old. I began coming to Healthline Chiropractic approximately 10 years ago when I finally couldn't take it anymore.  I was shocked at how much better I began to feel, I went from having pain every day to an occasional discomfort.   Now I work out 3 days a week to keep my back and body in shape. I see Dr. Blaskay every 3 weeks to keep me in place, if I miss a week I really feel it so I always make time to get my adjustment in.

  • Severe Lower Back Pain

When I first came in, I was experiencing severe lower back pain around my sacrum. I was unable to complete simple everyday tasks like brushing my teeth and putting shoes on with out experiencing pain. Through coming to the chiropractor three times a week for a month and then 2 times a week for a month, I am able to complete every day tasks with little to no pain. At first, I couldn't notice much change, but sticking with the schedule and staying committed over time I noticed I was feeling less pain. With massage therapy and completing exercises daily I can absolutely tell the difference in my movement and mobility. I feel happier and feel healthier.

  • Ski Accident Leading to a Fusion

In 2002 I was in a major ski accident that resulted in a lower back fusion 6 years later. I also suffered from migraines for over 30 years. Going to Healthline Chiropractic has relieved both my migraines and pain from my ski accident.

Dr. Blaskay was able to adjust fixated spinal segments around my fusion to prevent further surgeries and heal my pain.

  • Two Herniated Discs

Iwas motivated to see chiropractor after experiencing a lower back injury in the sport of baseball. An accident occured where I could barely stand/walk, and had to be carried off the field. I saw a chiropractor within 12 hours and got advanced imaging done. The MRI came back and noted that I had two herniated disc at the L4/L5 levels. After a 6 week period of adjustments, I was able to attain full range of motion with no pain. Rehab/strengthening did also help with this.Being adjusted has allowed my body to function at a higher level in my every day activities, and I firmly believe it has only helped prevent my body from becoming injured again.I have felt an overall heightened energy level. To keep it simple and all encompasing... I feel overall healthier and like my body is functioning at its fullest capacity for my age. I am a firm believer that the power that made the body has the power to heal it, provided you fuel it with the proper tools to be functioning at its highest level! I love chiropractic, and will always have it as a part of my life.

  • Unable to Walk

I was 19 when I was unable to walk without assistance after stretching in a gym. I felt a pop in my back and was unable to walk all evening. The following day I received 1 adjustment from Dr Tony Erwin in Hurricane, WV, and was able to walk out of the office. The next day I received my second adjustment and felt 100% better. I’m forever grateful for chiropractic, and that is why I enrolled in the 2016 class to one day help others the way I was helped!
